Our PPR challenge this week was to design a dress for the Emmys for one of the past designers.  We also had to pick the pallet from the colors of a line of Lexis cars.  Which was a terribly dull set of colors as far as I am concerned.  So I picked the designer I wanted to work with (Anya) and chose the color she was assigned during the show (Brown). (I picked Kooan as my design partner, even though that is not part of the assignment.  I liked the way he handled not knowing what was going on).
Kooan and I found this nice chocolate heavy satin that we decided for the base.  The waist corset is made from a burn out velvet in deep brown.  The train is a softer brown silk, shot through with gold.  The train can be worn down or held up with a finger loop
Anya said she wanted a dramatic back.  I hope this was enough drama for her.

I've been a bit slow at posting last weeks Project Project Runway, but I'm here now.  Our assignment was the unconventional challenge this week, and we got to go to the candy store.  I've always wanted to make a Kinderegg outfit, so easy choice for me.

The Dali School of Modeling sent a new model for this challenge.  The lovely CoCo.  She even make foil pants look fun.  The bustier is the chocolate from the candy, squished between two layers of vinyl.  I did think up a way to make a skirt from the foil that could actually be worn.  If a person used iron on glue to stick the foil to a base fabric, you could make it work, if it wasn't in a stretchy spot.

Project Runway's 10th season just started July 19th.  And I just joined the Flickr group Project Project Runway.  We follow the challenges,  as best we can, using dolls for models.  I will be using the Dali School of Modeling for my muses.  Our first assignment is to make a companion outfit for an outfit we have made before.  I will be using my first dress from the time I played before.  And Iris has agreed to model the original for me again.  Look for the new outfits each Thursday

Welcome to the 10th challenge of ProjectProjectRunway.  The challenge this week was to take inspiration from the 70's high fashion.  It was indeed a challenge as I feel the 70's was more about a lack of fashion.  But I did find an interesting sort of 70's fabric and I settled on a wrap dress.  There are shots of gold throughout the design that don't show up well in the photos.  The wee buckle in the back is silver with rinstones along the sides.  I used my original model Zoey since her hair actually aids the look I felt.

I've sort of lost track of what number challenge this is....Anyway.  This is the Project Project Runway challenge that we were asked to make stage outfits for male band members.  Well, the Dali School of Modeling did not fail me this time.  They managed to find me the only Scottish Techno didgeridoo player in the world.  I am pleased to introduce Joe "Tiger" McCool.  He was in the military for many years, but he was asked to leave 10 years ago for Bedazzling his dress uniform.  He had many opinions about what he wanted to wear on stage.  He wanted a lot of color and not much black.  He wanted a kilt.  He also asked for a tiger tail to commemorate his nick name "Tiger".  I informed him I felt I would be eliminated for the tail, but I would see what I could do.....

Mr. McCool is a very strong willed individual and he insisted on wearing his favorite silver moonboots.  He promised he would defend me against Nina...He also lifted me into the air in a huge bear hug and insisted, "This is the best thing EVER" and repeated "RRRAAARRRHHHH!" many many times.

This weeks model from the Dali School of Modeling showed up yesterday.  I was not impressed.  She seemed a bit cold, and walked a bit floppily, so I was very nervous.  But it seems it helped in making my garment appear a bit more Avant Garde

This is Shoozie, my new model from the Dali School of Modeling.  Here she is modeling the outfit I designed to go with the New Balence shoes that Hiedi deigned in black.  I used a chambray for the denim and bits of ultra suede for the suede

Picture
I liked Becky's idea of using the New Balance "N" on the back.  I took it a step further and added it to the front too.  This left the sides a bit asymmetrical.  It's a wrap dress with a sued top and hem.  I used the back side of the chambray and cut it on the bias to add some interest.

The challenge this week is to design an outfit that can be worn with sneakers that Heidi Klum has designed.  We need to use denim and suede, and they want more sophistication and less work out gear.  At least I have an idea for this week.
Oooo..and I met the new model from the Dali School of Modeling for this week, and I must say, she has one of the more exotic looks I have seen for a model yet....stay tuned for more...

As you may remember, I was not to excited about this challenge.  So I was havening trouble at "Mood" deciding on fabric, so I picked out some trims...and then forgot to get fabric.  The hardest challenge for me so far and I forget FABRIC??

Fortunately the Dali School of Modeling really came through for me this time and they got the actual Nina Garcia to be my model!!  It was exciting..and stressful, as all she would say to me was, "NO" and "Plan b?".  But I had to stick to my (Tim) Gun(s), and follow my vision.  Since Mr. Gun said she looked like a..how did he put it..Space Hooker, I was sure I was going home....which I did.  Well, to my parents home at least.  My Mom has been a bit sick, so I decided last Tuesday to drive down the next day.  And that is the real story of how I ended up with only trim for this project.  And my Mom is feeling a lot better now.

We just got our challenge assignment for Project Project Runway and all I have to say is, "AAARRRRrrrrgggGGHHH!!".  We are following the real PR assignment, which is to design a day to evening look for Nina Garcia.  It couldn't be any harder for me.  SHe likes black, reds, and neutrals...all my least favo colors to work with.  The only saving grace for me is she has a "warrior Princess" vibe going.  She likes studs, and bold breast plate like jewelry and adornments.  AND on top of it, Khystrill informed me right after our photo shoot, that she had some family responsibilities she needed to see to and was flying down south in 2 hours.  So yet again I'll be havening to get used to another model from the Dali School of Modeling.....*sigh*
